LinkedIn – Add Dislike/Downvote Button
The platform has become almost unbearable with the number of self-aggrandizing posts and the only forms of feedback are all positive.
In the early days of the LinkedIn content feed, or Pulse as it was known back then, it was a genuinely useful place to stay up to date with work related content. Over the years it has continually declined with ever more vapid self congratulatory content. Although the most egregious “growth hacking“ tricks, for example “Comment if you want the report“, appear to have been mitigated there is still so much clean up required.
Aside from the 5 icons, the only other options are "Not interested", "unfollow" or "report" which either feel too extreme or don’t provide feedback to the original poster.
Adding more types of feedback could help moderate the ecosystem and provide valuable feedback to users who have misjudged their message.
Similar to the way YouTube has hidden dislikes, the numbers don’t need to be public, but could be a very useful signal to LinkedIn and the users posting content that is essentially spam.
